Wisconsin woman hospitalized after Doberman bite

Sustaining a dog bite can be a traumatic experience, especially if the owner is nowhere to be found. Not knowing the medical history of an animal can lead victims to undergo unnecessary and expensive medical treatments. One Wisconsin woman experienced this when she suffered a dog bite by a dog whose owner was nowhere to be found.

The woman was bitten in early June in the city of Appleton. The dog owner was walking her dog when the Doberman attacked the passerby. The attack was serious enough to send the 54-year-old woman to the hospital.

Police began to seek public assistance to help find the owner of the dog, and about a week later, a citizen pointed out the dog owner on a street. Fortunately, the dog and the owner were found in time to prevent the victim from undergoing unnecessary treatment for rabies. At this time, the attack is still being investigated, and information is still being solicited by the police.

It is possible that the owner of the Doberman may face legal trouble over this attack. The extent of the woman's injuries is unknown, but they were serious enough to warrant medical treatment. Such may lead this Wisconsin woman to seek damages against the dog owner in an effort to cover her hospital bills and pain and suffering. Others who have found themselves in similar situations may find it helpful to obtain a full understanding of their legal rights and options. Often dog owners can be held responsible for the actions of their animals.
